The printed model of my Character for this assignment. The print came out a bit small due to an error within Maya, but I am happy with the print and how the model came out.

Concept Art work

Basic body shapes, trying too work how slim line a 7 year old is.

Excuse the terrible body shapes, but theses were rough sketches of what her over all outfit should of looked like.

This sketch contains all the different pieces of clothing she will be wearing. Including the sketch of her face.

The image I used in Maya too build my character with.

Here are the the rough sketches I did when choosing how my character should look, including the sketch I used in Maya too make my model with.

Character Turn Table

Here the clip footage of my Character on a Turntable, hosted on Youtube:
(Model is placed on a stand based on my personal logo, and has been placed in a surface dome for a backdrop)

Character Progression

Below are the progress shots of my model, over the course of me making it.

The Final Pose I put my character in for the Turntable and 3D Print off.
I went for a shy / cute pose too reflect her youth.

My Model completed, head and body aatached together. Both have been textured now and are not in the final pose.

My Model when I completed the body. (Complete with textures)

My model's head, not attached and not textured. I had a few problems making this head, but manager too get them sorted out fairly easy.

My body with the mesh mirrored. She came out a bit bigger than I planned, but I scaled her down too the right size. The Red and Blue colours I placed on the model too detect polygon clashes easier, these aren't the final textures.

My models body whilst looking at it thought smoothness 3.

The first block version of my character, the hands have yet too be finished, but the boots and dress are finished.

Character Finale

Have finished my character, since developing and talking about her one here she has gone thought a few more changes.
I have first taken away the colour scheme and replace it with a different one. I went from dark colours too lighter colours, secondly due too problems with texture files I had too use block colour over textures. I also dropped the Mask from the final design, due too personal choices.

Next time I use textures I will look into how too fix these problem more, as it currently stands I have not found any soultion too fix the pixelation problems I am getting. Secondly I had problems with Maya, I wanted too apply a fur surface too the wrists and ankles cuffs my character is wearing, sadly my Maya just didn't want too load the Fur modules and I found no way too fix this problem either. I left the cuffs on the model too show what it should look like.

Character Development - Personality

Now I have gone over some ideas for the looks of my character I need too work them with her personality to give her something more than just looks.

This is what the brief saids about her:

"Pocahontas Billiams – “Willie’s sister, she’s seven years old but much more relaxed and more knowing than her sibling. She wants to be a gorilla.”

I have been focusing on the "She wants to be a gorilla." part a lot, as this small sentence really does set the tone for this character. Wanting too be something will mean that she could have quirks or taints that she has developed to make herself more gorilla like. I have taken too her changing her daily cloths too include this gorilla costume she had made. I want too make her a quiet character, not shy, but still not too adventurous at the same time.

Too reflect the quiet personality I will give her a haircut style that covers her eyes. By doing this the gorilla mask she wears acts like her eyes instead, not physically but picture wise. I also wanted too make it so she relays expressions more by her mouth expressions and not by the eyes.

She is also meant too be more knowing that her brother, I want her too be quizzical character. You only know more than others by asking a lot.

So in summary, she is a quiet, yet quizzical character. Asking questions when she wants too know something, but other than that she is quiet. Mainly talking too expand her knowledge. Her wanting too be a gorilla has lead her too make a gorilla costume our of bits of fur found at home. She choose too hide the top part of her face in her hair and mask, too look more gorilla like (cause of the mask).

Research - Masks

Have been looking at masks designs, and I havn't found anything on the net that suits my wants for my character. Most gorilla mask have scary expressions with fangs on displayed. I want a more solemn look on the mask that my Character wears. Like the examples above. As she is only 7 years old and she's would see gorillas as a big, cuddle type of creature.

I want the mask too just sit on her head and blend into her hair a little bit. The fur will be have too be the same colour as her hair, so it does blend. On the mask I am thinking maybe just have the eyes and nose on it, so the mask doesn't have a jaw. Cause I want the mask sitting on her head, a jaw on the mask could cover too much of her face.

I will have too see if I can find a similar design too what I want.
